Snowy Honeycomb Canyon terrain at Solitude Mountain Resort in Big Cottonwood Canyon
Ski Utah · Big Cottonwood Canyon

Solitude Mountain Resort

Solitude lives up to its name on most weekdays: a quieter Cottonwood resort with a small European-style village, the steep backside of Honeycomb Canyon and a Nordic center at Silver Lake.

Snow report

The conditions page brings together snow, weather and mountain information. Check which season the report covers.

Snow readings and their last-updated time are on the operator’s site. Live snow totals are not currently displayed on this page.

How to read a snow report
24-hour / 48-hour snowfall
New snow over the stated reporting window. The 48-hour total includes the 24-hour window; don’t add them together.
Base depth
Snow on the ground at the resort’s reporting location, which can differ from conditions elsewhere on the mountain.
Season snowfall
Snow accumulated over the season’s reporting period, rather than the depth currently on the ground.
Forecast
A prediction of future snow, separate from measured snowfall. Snowfall alone does not establish which lifts or trails are open.

Use the source’s update date and time zone, especially around overnight storms. Off-season or stale reports may retain old readings. A missing or undated report does not mean no snow.

Report links checked (Utah, America/Denver). This is a link check, not the time of a snow observation.

Solitude sits a few miles below Brighton in Big Cottonwood Canyon and gets the same storms with noticeably shorter lift lines. The front side is groomed cruisers and gentle glades that suit intermediates. The real draw for strong skiers is Honeycomb Canyon on the back side, a long gully of chutes, cliffs and trees that funnels down to a single return lift.

The Moonbeam base and the small village at the Inn at Solitude give the resort a calm, walkable feel, and the Solitude Nordic Center at Silver Lake grooms classic and skate tracks and snowshoe trails in a high meadow ringed by peaks. Solitude is the one Utah mountain where the full Ikon Pass gives unlimited days.

Maps and mountain orientation

Choose your arrival plan

Moonbeam is the principal day-guest lot. For 2026–27, reservations are required before 11 a.m. Friday–Sunday and designated holidays from December 18 through March 28. The separate Nordic Center generally uses weekends and holidays, with its own guest validation. Village parking has different eligibility; use the operator’s lot map before choosing an entrance.

Good to know

  • For 2026–27, the Moonbeam lot requires parking reservations before 11 a.m. Friday through Sunday and on designated holidays, from December 18 through March 28. Parking there is free after 11 a.m., and cars with four or more people park free but still need a reservation.
  • The Nordic Center lot is for Nordic Center guests and has its own rules: reservations before 11 a.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from December 19, and a permit from the Nordic Center once you park.
  • UTA ski buses serve Solitude and Brighton from the valley and are free for Ikon and many local passholders.
  • Big Cottonwood’s traction-device rules apply in storms. Rental cars without snow tires can be turned around at the canyon mouth.
  • Honeycomb Canyon terrain opens late on storm days while patrol does avalanche work. Lap the front side until it opens.
