Zion and Bryce long weekend
Two of the most famous parks in the country are only 90 minutes apart. Spend two days in Zion's canyon and one on Bryce's rim.
Day 1: Zion Canyon
- MorningRiverside Walk and the Narrows
Ride the shuttle to the Temple of Sinawava for the paved Riverside Walk. Wading up the Narrows is a separate outing that depends on river flow and conditions, and the no-permit route stops at Big Spring; check the park's Narrows page first.
- AfternoonEmerald Pools
A shaded loop below the cliffs, good for cooling off.
- EveningSpringdale
Dinner and an evening walk along the Pa'rus Trail.
Day 2: The big hike
- EarlyAngels Landing or Observation Point
Angels Landing needs a permit; the East Mesa route to Observation Point does not and looks down on it.
- AfternoonKolob Canyons
A quieter section of the park off I-15 with a 5-mile scenic drive.
Day 3: Bryce Canyon
- MorningThrough the tunnel to Bryce
About 90 minutes via the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway and US-89.
- MiddayNavajo Loop and Queen's Garden
Down among the hoodoos and back.
- AfternoonRed Canyon
Bike or walk the paved trail through red hoodoos on SR-12 on your way out.
