Official visitor information ↗

Scenic Byway 12 runs from U.S. 89 near Panguitch to State Route 24 near Torrey. It passes through red-rock country, the Escalante area and Boulder, then climbs over the forests of Boulder Mountain. The Hogback is its best-known stretch.

The road works best as a trip with stops. Parks, towns, trailheads and side roads along it can each take extra time, and not every unpaved side road suits an ordinary car.

Before you go

Check road weather, fuel and services before you go, and the condition of any unpaved side road.
