What the council costs

Budget lineFY2025 actualFY2026 estimatedFY2026 approvedFY2027 adopted
City Council salaries and wages$69,878$68,208$67,000$72,200
City Council benefits$56,816$69,259$67,702$69,721
City Council total personnel$126,694$137,467$134,702$141,921
Legislative department total$189,836$206,808$205,202$213,621

These are department budget lines for the five council seats together, not any one member's pay. The department total also covers memberships, training and other costs.

The budget counts the five council seats as 2.50 full-time equivalents because their pay is a set amount, not based on hours worked.

The mayor is budgeted separately in the Executive department: $31,370 in salaries and wages and $13,304 in benefits for fiscal 2027, $44,674 in all.

How these profiles work. Votes come from the council minutes as summarized on our council meeting pages, which link the official minutes. Our vote records start in January 2020, so earlier terms are listed but their votes are not counted. The mayor votes only to break a tie, so the mayor's profile has no voting record. Disclosures and campaign contributions are as written on the forms the city posts. A listed interest or contribution is a public record, not a finding of wrongdoing.
