Suntran Transit Facility
St. George is building a new Suntran transit facility at 433 East Brigham Road that will serve every Suntran route and include six maintenance bays, offices, a fueling station and parking for customers and the city's bus fleet. Bonneville Builders received the construction contract in September 2025, work began later that year, and the city says the project remains on schedule for completion in December 2026. For the Oct. 22 meeting staff asked the council to approve a $663,239.24 change order, Bonneville's potential change order 026, to add the automotive equipment the six bays need (the pieces attached to the building or installed during construction). It consists of $631,656.42 of equipment plus 5% overhead and profit of $31,582.82. Bonneville would subcontract the equipment to Automotive Equipment of Nevada at the city's request and cut its fee from 10% to 5%, in exchange for the city bearing the cost of any scope gaps, design issues or delays from that subcontractor. Staff say the purchase was budgeted in the construction budget and is paid from the Public Transit Fund through a state grant for the Zion route. The change order in the packet is marked pending and not executed, so it is a proposal until the council acts; the result and any payment are not in the posted record.
