Trace the decisions and financial records linked to South Salt Lake's projects. A budget, bond ceiling, contract authorization and actual payment describe different things.
South Salt Lake financed its new public works campus with Series 2024 sales tax revenue bonds of $40,665,000 in principal. The audited report puts the project's projected cost at about $38 million, and a February 2026 update set completion for June 2027.
After 19 speakers objected to South Salt Lake's transportation utility fee in March 2026, the council took up ordinances that would add a $1.71 monthly residential charge and cut business rates by about 39%. The records reviewed don't show the final vote.
South Salt Lake's Truth in Taxation notice proposed $1,839,537 in additional annual property tax revenue for its public safety levy, an increase of 12.99% over the prior year's budgeted property tax revenue. A hearing was held Aug. 11, 2026.
The city's fiscal 2025 audit shows a $7.45 million unrestricted deficit in the sewer fund, tied in part to Central Valley's 2024 sewer bonds, and says sewer rates will need to rise. A sewer fee ordinance was on the council's Sept. 9 and Sept. 23, 2026 agendas.
