Brigham City School Subdivision / elementary school site
Brigham City sold about 13.53 acres of city land to the Box Elder School District for $1,528,889 so the district can build an elementary school on the city's west side, near the sports complex. The council approved the sale 3-0 on Oct. 1, 2026, with three of its six seats filled that night, according to approved minutes. The city administrator said the city and district negotiated for more than a year and that about 2,700 homes are in various stages of development nearby. The vote authorizes the mayor to sign the purchase agreement and closing documents, and the minutes do not say when the sale closes or when the district would design, bid or open a school.

October 1, 2026 · City Council
Sale of 13.53 acres to Box Elder School District
Approved · 3-0
The council approved a resolution selling about 13.53 acres of city-owned land in the previously approved Brigham City School Subdivision, near the city's sports complex, to the Box Elder School District for a future elementary school. The mayor is authorized to sign the purchase agreement and closing documents. City Administrator Derek Oyler said the city and district worked on the deal for more than a year and that about 2,700 residential units are in various stages of development in the area, which makes added school capacity necessary as the west side grows.
