Background

Cabot Nelson’s campaign biography says he grew up in West Valley City and lives in Salt Lake City’s Sugar House neighborhood. He describes 2026 as his fifth campaign for public office, following candidacies with the United Utah Party and now the Forward Party of Utah. Electoral reform is central to his House District 23 campaign, including support for ranked-choice voting and other alternatives to conventional elections. He also advocates allowing multifamily housing in residential zones, dedicating income-tax revenue to education and protecting water rights when owners conserve water for the Great Salt Lake.
