Big Water at a glance

Kane County · Utah

Big Water’s history is tied to the construction of Glen Canyon Dam. Kane County’s visitor account describes the earlier Glen Canyon City as housing for workers during the dam-building period. That origin connects the town with Lake Powell and the Highway 89 corridor between Kanab and Page.

The Big Water Visitor Center adds another local theme: the geology and paleontology of the Grand Staircase-Escalante region. The Bureau of Land Management describes its scientific focus and publishes separate operational announcements. Town government has its own Utah public-notice listing, so visitor-center information, recreation planning and municipal records should be followed through their respective responsible agencies.
