East Carbon at a glance

Carbon County · Utah

East Carbon’s municipal history connects the city with Dragerton, Columbia and Sunnyside. The city website traces the joining of Dragerton and Columbia in 1973 and the later incorporation of Sunnyside into East Carbon in 2014. Mining and coke-oven history are central themes in its account of the area.

The Book Cliffs provide part of the surrounding landscape, while municipal pages separately organize forms, permits, council information and public notices. These resources allow residents to follow current city business without losing the distinctions among the communities that helped form it. Historical industrial sites should be investigated through their own ownership and access information rather than assumed to be municipal visitor facilities.
