Elsinore at a glance

Sevier County · Utah

Elsinore’s Little Denmark identity reflects the Scandinavian settlers who established the community in 1874. Utah’s History to Go describes people moving closer to their agricultural fields and naming the town for Helsingør in Denmark. Irrigation, farming and the retention of Danish language and traditions shaped its early story.

The town’s own website carries that identity into a present-day introduction, with past-and-present photographs and a local newsletter. Municipal pages separately provide ordinances, agendas, minutes, contacts and water information. Readers can use the historical account for background and the town’s dated records for current public business without assuming older population or service descriptions are still accurate.
