Law and professional training

Troy Walker combines his mayoral responsibilities with a legal practice covering personal injury, product liability, criminal defense, and trusts and estates. He previously worked as an assistant district attorney for Salt Lake County. He holds a law degree and dispute-resolution certification from Willamette University College of Law and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Utah. [1]

Municipal service

Before becoming mayor, Walker served on the Draper City Council and co-chaired Draper Days park events. His current mayoral responsibilities include conducting council meetings and appointing city leaders and committee members. He also serves as liaison to the Mayor’s Youth Council, Peer Court and Appeals Board. The city lists his term as ending in January 2030. [1]

Regional assignments and open space

Walker’s official biography lists work with the Utah Transit Authority advisory board, Wasatch Front Regional Council and Point of the Mountain State Land Authority. He is a past president of the Utah League of Cities and Towns. An active mountain biker, he supports Corner Canyon trails and open space, and his service also includes Utah’s athletic commission. How Draper makes policy

Draper’s mayor and five council members form the elected governing body. Together they establish general goals and policies and adopt ordinances and resolutions. Study sessions allow preparation for business meetings, where public hearings and formal action occur. This framework places Walker’s meeting leadership and appointment powers alongside the council’s policy role. The city publishes agendas, meeting recordings and conflict declarations so residents can follow the decisions made by their representatives. [2]
