Healthcare leadership

Tish Buroker spent 38 years in healthcare, including long-term care, the American Red Cross and psychiatric hospital nursing management. She entered clinical laboratory management in 1994 and retired in 2014 as LabCorp vice president of operations. Her responsibilities included four regional laboratories and six satellite laboratories across several western and central states, according to Riverton’s official biography. [1]

Public and volunteer service

Buroker began serving on the Riverton City Council in 2017. Elected mayor in November 2025, she took the oath on January 6, 2026. Her community background includes the Historical Commission, community development grants, the Jordan River Commission, hospice volunteering and court advocacy. Her mayoral assignments include local law enforcement and fire service bodies and regional government coordination. [1]

First-year priorities

In a March 2026 interview, Buroker identifies an approachable workplace culture and thorough budget discussions as initial priorities. She says departments should explain needs over the next five to ten years so elected officials can make informed spending choices. She also identifies traffic and denser development on Riverton’s west side as challenges, and describes cooperation with neighboring cities as a measure of success. [2]

Documented current work

The October 6, 2026 council agenda assigns Buroker a strategic-priorities discussion. Other scheduled business included water-contract changes, a frontage improvement agreement and a long-range administrative planning discussion. The agenda documents the work placed before the governing body; it does not by itself establish how every item was decided. Residents could participate in person or submit comments through the city’s electronic meeting channels. [3]
