Background
Tara Madsen is Carbon County treasurer for the 2025–2028 term. She previously served as chief deputy in the county treasurer’s office. On May 1, 2024, the county commission approved her appointment as interim treasurer following the county Republican central committee’s recommendation. The appointment filled the vacancy created by Kay Colosimo’s retirement, which was scheduled for May 3. Madsen had already filed to run for treasurer when the commission considered the appointment.
