Teaching, speaking and family advocacy
Nicholeen P. Peck's House biography describes a long teaching career, public speaking and mentoring families through Teaching Self-Government. It also records leadership of the Worldwide Organization for Women, work as an author and nonprofit executive, and experience as a therapeutic foster parent. Her education record names Snow College and George Wythe University without specifying degrees, alongside her work in education, public speaking and family advocacy. [1]
Tooele County representation
Peck began House service in January 2025 and represents District 28 in Tooele County. Her official biography identifies Tooele and portions of nearby communities within the district. Current standing assignments place her on Education and Public Utilities and Energy, combining school policy with questions about the infrastructure and utility services that support residents, businesses and growing communities across Utah. [1]
Parent-taught driving education
Peck sponsored 2026 HB464. The introduced text, titled Teen Driving Amendments, proposed younger eligibility ages for driver licenses and learner permits and expanded parents' ability to provide driver education. It also proposed new supervised-driving requirements and access to instructional materials. The sponsor-browse record later uses the title Parent Taught Driver Education Amendments; the introduced version also directed education agencies to provide parents with classroom materials for teaching their children. [2]
In the 2026 General Session, Nicholeen P. Peck was chief sponsor of H.B. 95, Public Employee Gender-specific Language Requirements. It would have barred a public employer, school district or the State Board of Education from disciplining an employee for using gender-specific language in certain circumstances, and would have exempted employees from discipline when a workplace policy required such language to accommodate someone else. It never reached a floor vote: a House committee returned it to the Rules Committee, and it was filed on March 6, 2026. [3]
In the 2026 General Session, Nicholeen P. Peck was chief sponsor of H.B. 127, Female Genital Mutilation Education Amendments. It would have ended the Department of Health and Human Services requirement to run a community education program on female genital mutilation. It did not become law, and it was filed on March 6, 2026. [4]
Social-services budgets and revenue review
Her current assignments include Social Services Appropriations and interim committees addressing public utilities, energy and technology and revenue and taxation. Those duties broaden her education and family-advocacy background into program spending and the state's revenue system. They also provide settings to examine how social services and infrastructure policy are funded, separately from her personal advocacy and nonprofit leadership. [1]
