Background
Michael Wanner is Gunnison’s mayor. He joined the City Council in April 2021 by appointment to a vacant seat. A Sanpete Messenger profile reported that he grew up in Centerfield, attended Gunnison Valley High School and Snow College, and earned a bachelor’s degree in radiologic science. At the time, he worked as a radiology technician at Gunnison Valley Hospital and as a general construction contractor. He also co-founded United We March, which organized fundraising activities for veterans, and served on Gunnison’s trails committee, including work connected with recreation on G-Hill.
