Nursing and Blanding public service

Logan Monson earned a nursing degree through Utah State University Blanding and works as a registered nurse and nurse administrator, according to his House biography. Before entering the Legislature, he served on the Blanding City Council and as mayor. His background combines healthcare operations with municipal government, including board service involving housing, municipal utilities and city and town interests. [1]

A southeastern Utah constituency

Monson began House service in January 2025 and represents District 69, a broad rural district spanning portions of southeastern and southern Utah. His current standing assignments include Health and Human Services and Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment. They bring clinical-service questions and the management of land, water and agricultural resources into the same legislative portfolio. [1]

Assisted-living residents and appeals

Monson sponsored 2026 HB506, Assisted Living Amendments. The introduced bill proposed limits on when facilities could discharge or transfer residents and an administrative appeals process. It also addressed help from an ombudsman, hearing procedures and circumstances involving health or safety. The document provides a concrete example of his health-policy work and proposed resident protections, including proposed hearing rights and procedures for residents challenging a facility's decision. [2]

In the 2026 General Session, Logan Monson was chief sponsor of H.B. 35, Bears Ears Visitor Center Advisory Committee Amendments. It would have extended the sunset date of the Bears Ears Visitor Center Advisory Committee. The House passed it and the Senate passed it on second reading, but it did not receive a final Senate vote, and it was filed on March 6, 2026. [3]

In the 2026 General Session, Logan Monson was chief sponsor of H.B. 113, Emergency Reporting Abuse Amendments. It widens the offense of emergency reporting abuse to cover calling 911 when the caller knows, or should know, that no emergency exists, and adds new penalties. The governor signed it on March 26, 2026. [4]

Rural health and resource spending

The Legislature lists Monson on Natural Resources appropriations, the Native American Legislative Liaison Committee and oversight of the Rural Health Transformation Grant. He also has interim health and natural-resources assignments. Those duties broaden his nursing and municipal background into resource-agency funding, relationships with tribal governments and review of rural-health investment, alongside the health legislation he sponsors individually.
