Background
Linda Christiansen is Sanpete County’s clerk and completed Utah’s VOTE election-administration certification in January 2023. County commission minutes describe the training as five two-day courses spread over two years. Later that year, she developed senior deputy-clerk job descriptions that linked advancement to experience and completion of the same certification. The commission approved her proposal in October 2023, establishing distinct deputy positions with progression in responsibility, including coverage of the clerk’s duties during an absence.
