Background
Leonard Norton is Huntington’s mayor. He moved from the City Council into the mayor’s office by appointment in November 2018 after Mayor Lamar Guymon died. Before that appointment, Norton had served as mayor pro tempore and had taken on mayoral responsibilities while Guymon was away. One early initiative he discussed with the council was reviving Huntington’s Youth City Council. In December 2018, he reported recruiting Courtney Justice to help with the program and planned to assign a council member to support the youth group.
