Financial services background

Ken Richey grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School and Weber State University. He is a Certified Financial Planner and has worked in insurance since 2006. His official biography describes experience serving businesses of different sizes and individuals from varied backgrounds, providing a professional foundation in financial decisions and client relationships alongside his public service. [1]

Community and council experience

Richey was first elected to represent Municipal District 3 in November 2021. His volunteer experience includes the Ogden-Weber Chamber’s Spikers Committee, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, GOAL Foundation, Weber State Wildcat Club and Sons of Utah Pioneers. He has also served through Scouting and church organizations, maintaining ties with business, recreation and community institutions. [1]

Public safety and development

Richey’s campaign priorities emphasize police and fire staffing and recruitment, describing public safety as his leading concern. He supports downtown redevelopment through WonderBlock while also seeking investment around 12th Street and Five Points. His stated aim is economic growth that benefits northern neighborhoods as well as the city center. These are his explanations of policy direction and shared council work. [2]

Budgeting and recreation

He calls for deliberate budget review and clear communication about tax dollars, drawing on experience with successive municipal budget cycles. His platform also supports protecting and improving parks, trails and public spaces, including the Marshall White Community Center. Richey presents financial stewardship and recreation access as complementary goals: maintaining the city’s assets while keeping long-term costs and residents’ needs in view. [2]
