Background

Jonathan Whittaker, known professionally as Jon Whittaker, is Iron County’s clerk. His campaign biography describes growing up in Enoch and graduating from Cedar High School and Southern Utah University. Before becoming clerk, he began working for the county as a cadastral mapper in 2004 and advanced to mapping supervisor in the recorder’s office. He says that work included starting the scanning and cataloguing of plat maps and modernizing mapping procedures. The clerk’s office now combines election administration, licensing and passport services with preparing agendas and maintaining records for the county commission.
