Public administration and council service

Gary Garrett represents Provo’s Citywide II council seat, with a current term expiring in January 2028. He holds a master’s degree in public administration and has more than thirty years of experience in business and civic work in downtown Provo. His city biography identifies longstanding involvement with local organizations and a family connection to the community where he raised his children. [1]

Corporate relations experience

A 2007 BYU Marriott alumni update records Garrett’s appointment as Nu Skin vice president of corporate relations. It describes responsibilities involving community and public relations and direction of the company’s Force for Good Foundation. This is a dated account of his earlier professional experience, establishing a background in corporate and nonprofit relationships without asserting that he holds that position today. [2]

Civic and institutional partnerships

The same alumni account identifies historical board service with United Way of Utah County, the Provo Downtown Business Alliance and Utah Valley State College’s President’s Community Council. It also describes a three-year Provo-Orem Chamber board term, including leadership of its Community Development Council. Together, those assignments show sustained work across business, higher education and local charitable institutions before his current council term. [2]

Downtown and recreation service

Provo’s current biography continues to identify Garrett’s work with the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Provo Downtown Alliance and community boards. It also credits him with co-chairing a committee that helped bring the Provo Recreation Center to residents. That involvement provides a specific example of civic advocacy alongside his professional public-relations and public-administration background. His council constituency covers the entire city. [1]
